It is not that any article is more important or less, all the articles are essential for India. Today we will talk about Article 69 of the Indian Constitution which tells about the oath of the Vice-President. What Is Article 69 Of The Indian Constitution State?

Article 69 is a small article in which it is written what the Vice-President will say while taking the oath. This oath is almost like the oath of the President. In this also the Vice-President has to say that I swear in the name of God that I will perform my duty with true faith. And I will protect the Constitution of India and will never let it be harmed. And I will not violate the Constitution of India.

In simple words, it is written in Article 69 that the Vice-President will take oath before entering his office and the oath will be administered to him by the President.

I want to tell you some special things related to the oath. The Chief Justice of India administers the oath to the President and the President of India administers the oath to the CJI. The Governor administers the oath to the Chief Justice of the High Court and the CJHC is administered the oath by a Governor appointed by the President.

The most important power or function is that he is the chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Let us tell you that the power that the speaker has in the Lok Sabha is the same power that the chairman has in the Rajya Sabha. When there is a vacancy in the office of the President, in that case, the Vice-President will assume all the responsibilities and throne of the President.

Article 69: Oath or affirmation by the Vice-President

Every Vice-President shall, before entering upon his office, make and subscribe before the President, or some person appointed on that behalf by him, an oath or affirmation in the following form, that is to say – “I, A.B., do swear in the name of God /solemnly affirm that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India as by law established and that I will discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter.”
