Article 70 says that when the Constitution was made, the makers of the Constitution thought that if the Parliament wanted the President should do some other work, then it can make such a law that the President can be made to do some other work also. This article was made with the thought that if the need arises in the future, such a law can also be made

Article 70: Discharge Of President’s Function

Article 70 of the Indian Constitution states: “The President may make such provision as he thinks fit for the discharge of the functions of the President in any contingency not provided for in this Chapter.”

Who Is The President Of India

When our country became independent, one thing was kept in mind all the powers should not be given in the hands of a single person. To prevent this from happening the power was divided into three parts. The Legislature which makes laws, the Executive which runs the government, and the Judiciary which protects the law. Now comes the matter of the President, the main job of the President is to maintain the separation of powers written in the Constitution and to protect our Constitution.

Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar had said that the President in India is like a king, he is the head of the state but not the executive. He represents the country, he does not run the country. The President is just a symbol for the country. Let’s read out the roles:

  • Granting assent to bills passed by Parliament

  • Commanding the armed forces

What Is the Constitution Of India?

The Constitution of India was adopted on 26th January 1950. 26th January is a very happy day for every citizen of India because Republic Day is celebrated on that day. If we talk about the English version of the Constitution of India, then it is the largest written constitution in the world. It is written in 1 lakh 46 thousand 385 words.

You know that the Indian Constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 and since then 26 November has been celebrated as Constitution Day. When the Constitution was adopted, it was divided into 22 parts with 395 articles and 8 schedules. Since then, 106 amendments have been made to the Constitution, now the Constitution has been divided into 25 parts with 448 articles and 12 schedules. The first amendment to the Constitution was made in 1951. At that time there was no Rajya Sabha, called the upper House of the Parliament.
